While staying in Angel Fire, New Mexico we were able to check out 2 of the local dirt bike trails which were in US National Forest.
The first trail we rode was Forest Road 5 in Angel Fire off Highway 64 (GPS Coordinates Here) This is a short Forest Road trail which is about 7 miles although there are a few smaller trails that spur off it. We chose this short trail mainly to how the bike were running at the higher altitude of Angel Fire – 9200 ft at this trail. Please be nice to the cows and don’t spook them!
The second trail we road was Forest Road 76(Osha Pass Rd) is a 35.5 mile point-to-point trail that can take you from Angel Fire to Tres Resitos reaching elevations over 10000ft! You can get to this from NM-434. Here are the GPS coordinates of the staging area, and there is another staging area just past the cattle gate.
Not knowing the trail or the range of Aaron’s CRF150RB (1.1 gallon tank) we did 12 miles one way and then turned around. There were definitely some smaller boulder gardens in the first part of the trail, but after that it opens up a bit.
